Update: After running these through the dishwasher three more times, the metallic residue no longer seems to be coming off. Whatever it was, it certainly took some extensive cleaning (and a bit of elbow grease) to completely remove. Just something to keep in mind before filling them with food and water. My original review can be seen below:—————These are the third set of stainless steel bowls I’ve ordered from WeatherTech. The first are probably close to 10 years old at this point and have held up well with no issues. I recently ordered a second set when we added a new dog to the family, but I returned them when the metallic coating came off after rubbing them with a damp paper towel.Chalking it up to bad luck, I ordered a third set, but sure enough, the same issue has reared its ugly head again. The picture you see attached is what happens when you rub the inside of one of these bowls with a damp paper towel. And while this might be understandable for a first rinse right out of the packaging, these dark grey smudges are what I’m getting from the bowls following a trip in the dishwasher. I have no idea what this residue is, but it keeps coming off. I’ll run these through the dishwasher a few more times to see if the problem persists and update my review accordingly. In meantime though, I can’t imagine this is healthy for a dog to ingest.
