We love this gate. It’s hard to find a nice baby/pet gate that is free-standing AND sturdy. This gate has relatively long legs that support the length, thus, making it pretty sturdy. Most free-standing gates are the foldable type, and, in my opinion, would move a lot. The Richell gate, whoever, works nicely. The length is adjustable, as per the description. And it was fairly easy to put together. We like the gate/walk thru quite a lot also. It’s wide enough, compared to many pet/baby gates (which have very small walkthrough doors). Opening and closing the gate is easy. There is no button to push. You only need to lift the gate, and it comes out of the catch. It can stand open freely, if you open it all the way. You can also just let it sit gently against the frame, to keep it from catching and locking. Be aware that the gate can only be installed in one spot on the overall gate, so it cannot be interchangeable in terms of location. Be sure the place you want to put it, will work with the way the gate is set up. The gate does open and close both ways, which is a plus. Bonus (big bonus), is how nice the overall stand looks. I will say that the iron part of the frame seems slightly cheap to me, based on the overall price. It’s nice, but I was a little surprised it wasn’t a little fancier. The wood part is very nice, and we are happy with our purchase. I do wish it was cheaper. $100-plus is hard to shell out. As far as dogs pushing it, it would be hard to do that, but I suppose if a dog were intent on doing that, he/she could. We have one small dog, and one large dog, and so far, there have been no problems. I would recommend this product for sure, and I’m glad we chose this one over any other.
