I asked the same question for "Always on my mind", released three years before this. "Being boring", the flagship of the otherwise questionable LP "Behaviour.", has over the years become an integral part of many people's lives. The song inspired a website, became a stalwart of a lot of Pet Shop Boys' concerts and is a fan favorite. It has become a classic, and will be listened to probably 50 to 100 years from now. The version on this CD is tighter than the one of the album, shorter and - I wonder - maybe a tad faster as well: it makes it even better. The B-Side is another Chris Lowe masterpiece (after "Paninaro"), "We all feel better in the dark". The version recorded here is good but the mix used during the "Performance" tour is actually even better than this one.Too bad then that the Extended mix of "Being boring" sounds like a lazy effort, with no added value whatsoever - but it doesn't matter. In fact, with "Being Boring", the world is definitely a better place...
