I've been waiting for someone to manufacture a stainless steel box with this design! I.e., high-sided and with the entrance on the longer side. This design encourages elevator-butt-peeing cats to turn around when they enter the box, so their urine stream hits the walls of the litter box instead of spurting out the entrance. I've been using a plastic version for several years, but it was getting really scratched up.So far, this litter box is working well. The only problem is that the clumped urine really sticks to one particular area of the box — I think where she pees the most? This was also an issue with the plastic box but, with this stainless steel box, it takes a bit more muscle to get the clump loose. I'm experimenting with underlaying the litter with baking soda and this seems to help. The box is heavy but manageable; and it cleans up quickly and easily if you give it a quick soak. (Speedy cleaning is important since I only have one box for now. I try to time cleaning it while she is napping.)I do not find the edges to be at all sharp, as some people have mentioned. I should note that I have covered the handle openings with clear packing tape (both inside and outside). I am a firm believer in Murphy's Law, so, since my cat is an elevator-butt urinator, I figured it's just a matter of time before she aims her butt at one of the handle openings. :-)All in all, I am very happy with this box. Thank you to whoever realized this design configuration was needed in a stainless steel version.
