I wondered if I needed the stabilizing feet for this gate depending on how thick it was. I was happy to know I didn't have to spend about $20 more to buy the stabilizing feet as it is a sturdy gate that has a perfect thickness. The wood seems a nice density and weight (not too heavy, not too light and cheap feeling). It stands up especially at a slight angle perfectly, free standing, and doesn't fall over unless you push on it or kick it over. The hinges seem durable and well made...has good tension to stay at whatever position you bend them at.It's beautiful. The panels are extra wide, and the two panels are perfect for covering the bottom of my stairs and divide the kitchen area from my living area. It is also much classier looking than our old tension gates. It is also low enough to easily step over. My kids have no problem stepping over it to get to the stairs. The gate is lightweight while being durable, and allows us to fold up and move from place to place easily. I can now keep our dog in place, and not nick up wall paint installing gates or leaning them against the wall so they won't fall!I got this to keep my medium sized puppy off the stairs and the upstairs. She has only knocked over gates on accident, and the noise scared her. This could probably be knocked over by any medium to larger dog that wants to get through and isn't scared, and can probably be jumped over as it is lower than the high gates. But for my dog, who is too scared to push through or jump over, this gate is the perfect height because it keeps her away from the forbidden areas, and we can step over it without having to move it.Am fully happy with the gate and vendor (got it in 1 day), was well packaged and in good condition.
