We have a 12 yo GSD who has trouble with his back legs. We bought this to help him get into and out of the family SUV, and also use it to help him get out the basement window into the yard without stairs (we live in a split-level.I had read the reviews complaining about sharp edges, but really did not find anything concerning and have had no such experience. It is aluminum though, so if there were a sharp edge somewhere it would take but a minute to rasp is smooth. This thing is great because it is super light, but sturdy. The ramp has great traction too.If I had a complaint it would be the strap to keep it closed when carrying. They use a short strap and a buckle, when a clip would be easier. This is a very minor issue because it is so light you can carry it with the handle and extend one finger to keep it closed for a short jaunt to the car or whatever. One other thing to be aware of, which is kind of unavoidable, is that it will rattle in the car if you lay it flat. The hinge is loose for easy folding, but that means there is just enough "slop" to allow it to rattle. I put a blanket in the middle and that worked, as does laying it on its side.I would buy this again and again because it s a great product.
