The gate is just the right size to keep my small terrier off the staircase. I chose this product because I wasn't able to position a pressure gate at the bottom of my staircase, and I didn't want to affix a gate to the wall. This gate is lightweight and so easy to move. Note that the legs extend about 7 inches front and back, so you will need a bit of a recess if you are positioning the gate at the bottom of a stairway or other opening that is not framed on both sides. The only issue I have with the design is that the legs don't stay tight. The legs tend to loosen and swivel after the gate has been moved a few times. A lock washer might solve this problem.
