This retractable baby gate is very wide which was perfect for my application. Since it's rollable, I didn't have to worry about installing it straight and I needed more of a diagonal to secure my area. The toughest part of the installation was finding the studs in the wall to secure to without puncturing wires, pipes, or anything else that could be in there. Once I was able to do that, it was a matter of drilling 4 holes per side of installation.The retracted form is low profile which I like and the clips don't stick out too much. I am a bit concerned that the plastic clips will snap over time from usage and tension. The other issue I see is the bottom has a flex to it and supervision would still be required. The package contained extra hardware to optionally make grommets and attach metal rings to the bottom for more stability. But that isn't a viable option for me since I don't want to drill into my carpet and that will affect the speed of retraction if I have to always detach the bottom clips - not to mention the possible tripping hazard. Aside from that, this is a well made retractable gate.
